Help me to choose a course

- All courses start close to the parking.
- The long and short courses are varied with some legs providing quick running and others requiring careful orienteering in technical terrain.
- The area was used for the British Night Championships earlier in the year!  With a clear night and the waxing gibbous moon winning times could be quick.  On the flip side, if it's a filthy night and/or your navigation isn't clean then you could be out for a good while!
- The long and short courses both have an easy 1km walk from the finish back to registration along the minor road - a good cooldown  following your efforts!
- The novice course starts and finishes close to registration. You'll be using a larger scale 1:5000 map and mainly following paths and linear features exploring the stunning woodland and lakeshore.
- The  novice course is suitable for adventurous juniors accompanied by adults who want to have a go at the challenge of night orienteering.
- Maps for the novice course are available in advance from registration - please ask if you have any questions.

Important Safety Notes:
- You must come and register before starting your run and you must return to registration to download even if you retire from your course.
- If you travelled to the event alone, you must state this at registration or leave your car keys.
- Please come prepared for bad weather and carry a whistle.

Start Times:

5.30-7pm

Courses Close:

8pm. You must be back at download by this time even if you retire so we know you are back safe.

Planner:

Other Notes:

New to Night Orienteering?
- You need to bring a decent head torch (and maybe a spare and/or spare battery) and make sure to dress appropriately for the weather.
- The events up to Christmas are on easier areas so are suitable for those trying night orienteering for the first time.
- Younger and/or inexperienced orienteers should be accompanied.
