HELP ME CHOOSE A COURSE

Whinlatter is a steep, tough forest, especially at night. We have tried to plan the short course to be technical but without too much climb.
The long course will be somewhat more challenging and we recommend only experienced night orienteers tackle it.
The novice course stays on paths and tracks with all controls visible from the path or track. It will have a separate start fairly close to the Forestry Commission complex.

We hope to be able to offer starts from 4.30pm, subject to all controls being out.
Last start 6.45pm but note comment re the long course as courses will close at 7.45pm.

The main start is approximately 500m easy walk from the carpark. All courses finish near the FC complex.

Start Times:

From 4.30pm, subject to all controls being out. NOTE: Last start 6.45pm

Courses Close:

Courses will close at 7.45pm. Start early if you anticipate a long run as you MUST be back to download by this time.

Planner:

Nick and Janet Evans

Other Notes:

New to Night Orienteering?
You need to bring a decent head torch (and maybe a spare and/or spare battery) and make sure to dress appropriately for the weather.
The first series of events, up to Christmas tend to be on easier areas so are suitable for those trying night orienteering for the first time.
Younger and/or inexperienced orienteers should be accompanied.
