Courses:
This week we’re in the lovely Mosedale Valley, with all courses involving a good bit of climbing on the lower slopes of Melbreak and Hen Comb.
The terrain is a mix of runnable tracks and rough fell sides.
There is no easy course due to the terrain but we do have a red course which is navigationally straightforward but physically challenging.
Long – 4.8 km with 280 m ascent
Short – 2.8 km with 190 m ascent
Red – 3.4 km with 150 m ascent
There is a 1.3 km walk from registration to the start and back from the finish.
All courses require multiple crossings of Mosedale Beck. Find suitable places to cross and take care whilst doing so.
Fences are crossable unless marked in purple. Most crossable fences are low but some areas do have barbed wire so take care when crossing. The short course is planned so gates/stiles can be used, but this is not compulsory.
There are cattle in the area. They are docile but give them a wide berth.
Important Safety Notes:
- You must come and register before starting your run and you must return to registration to download even if you retire from your course.
- If you travelled to the event alone, you must state this at registration or leave your car keys.
- Please come prepared for bad weather and carry a whistle.
