Registration:
Keswick YHA where you will be provided with a physical map which has the start, finish and 30 controls.
The controls on the app will be in the same locations but it is much easier using a physical map than the app for navigation.
From 5pm-6pm the YHA café will be very busy with Keswick convention volunteers. Registration will be at a table accessible from the walkway not in the cafe.
After 6pm please make use of the café for discussing routes and socialising.

Finish: Please come to the finish in the YHA so I know you are not still out there. As there are no dibbers there is no download.

Dogs:

No dogs on the courses

Entries:

Online entry using Racesignup HERE

Courses:

There is a one hour score event for everyone.
There are 30 controls all worth 20 points with a penalty of 10 points per minute or part minute late.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult as the course will cross busy roads.

Map:
We are using a 1:25,000 OS map printed at 1:13,000
Only use roads, public footpaths and open access land.
A lot of out of bounds areas are marked on the map but there are other areas (e.g gardens) that must also not be entered, use your common sense regarding access.

Start Times:

5 - 7pm

Courses Close:

8pm. Please report back to YHA when when you finish so we know you are back safe.

Planner:

Other Notes:

Keswick MapRun Details
As SI boxes are being prepared for the Lakes 5 day we are trying something different this week. We are doing a 1 hour score event using the MapRun app in Keswick.
MapRun is a free mobile app that turns your smartphone into a virtual orienteering device. It tracks your route via GPS and logs your time and checkpoints without needing physical flags or punch units. https://maprunners.weebly.com/.

If it is the first time using the app then this guide produced by the neighbouring BorderLiners Orienteering Club is useful HERE   although we will be having a score event and I will provide links to our MapRun event on the morning of the event.
The links to our MapRun event will also be available at registration.

If something goes wrong with the technology I can manually alter the results by adding controls that were visited but did not register.

Note that this event is not part of the Spring/Summer series but a stand-alone event.
