Courses:
Long: 4.6 km, 160m
Crosses some bits of felled area (200 – 500m, depending on route choice). This is quite an old clear fell, but still a bit spiky. Take care. Full leg cover advised.
Short: 3.3km, 120m
All in the forest. Full leg cover advised.
Yellow: 1.6km, 75m
All on roads and paths. There is a tricky bit of path where the trees have blown over and the path finds a way round them. There’s a shallow pond next to the path later on. It’s quite hilly.

Other Notes:
I remapped this in 2020 and planned an event. Three times it was cancelled, for road making & felling, covid, and more felling. Fourth time lucky - subject to permission.
It’s going to be gloomy in the forest by the time the courses close. Early start an advantage, or you might want to bring a torch.
Terrain: There is some very recent felling, which is still unstable. This is marked out of bounds.
Most of the forest is quite reasonable to get through - see map notes.
There are lots of stacks of logs beside the roads, which can be dangerous. KEEP OFF LOG STACKS

Much of the forest is marked ‘walk’ on the map, but it’s patchy. A strong runner will find most of it ‘slow run’.
There are many mountain bike and motorbike trails in the forest. The most popular are shown on the map. They go a bit invisible if they haven’t been used recently, so it depends what the riders have been up to.
