Courses: 

Long Course: approx 25km, +2500m, 8 controls, map 1:15000, estimated winning time 3hrs

Medium Course: approx 18km, +1500m, 7 controls, map 1:15000, estimated winning time 2 hrs

Short Course: approx 8km, +800m, 5 controls, map 1:10000, estimated winning time 1hr

Very Short Course: approx 5km, +340m, 6 controls, map 1:10000, estimated winning time 35 mins

The event is planned in the style of a single day mountain marathon, with relatively obvious control/ checkpoint placement, and courses are planned to provide decisive route options between checkpoints.

The long course:

Is equivalent in physical challenge to an AL fell race, and covers very rough and steep terrain. Therefore, it requires suitable experience of similarly challenging events as well as the ability to self navigate using map and compass. It has a minimum age of 18 on the day of the race, however experienced U18 athletes over 16 with suitable experience are invited to contact the organiser for a chance to be vetted on an individual basis. Any unvetted U18 athletes entering this course will not be allowed to run. The long course only will be in Mass Start format.

The medium course:

Is equivalent in physical challenge to an AM fell race, and covers some steep and rough terrain. Therefore, it requires some experience of similarly challenging courses as well as the ability to self navigate using map and compass. It has a minimum age of 16 on the day of the race. The medium course will be held in Time Trial format.

The short course:

Is equivalent in physical challenge to an AM fell race, and covers normal fell terrain. It requires the ability to self navigate using map and compass. It has a minimum age of 14 on the day of the race. The short course will be held in Time Trial format.

Mandatory kit
Competitors should come prepared to carry minimum FRA kit (waterproof full body cover with integrated and attached hood, hat, gloves, emergency food, whistle) as well as a foil survival blanket and water on all courses. Depending on weather conditions this may be lessened on the day at the discretion of the organiser. No food or water is provided on the course, competitors should be self-sufficient.
