Courses:

Once again the event will be held at The Leaps near Kirkland (GR086184) over the fells on the south side of Loweswater.
On rotation it should really be in Eskdale or one of the other less used venues but for a couple of reasons we'll be back on familiar ground from 2010 and 2014...

As this is the tenth year of the event since it's resurrection I've decided to change the format slightly and given a slightly later date again and the greater chance of poor weather this format and area lends itself to bad weather courses at short notice.

There will still be 3 courses of Long, Medium and Short and a number of controls will be out in the terrain to visit. Approximate course lengths 20, 15 and 10k.
The Long will have to visit them all, the Medium will do a proportion and the Short a smaller proportion but there will be at least compulsory first and last controls to visit.

Courses:

Long (20km), Medium (15km), Short (10km)

Registration Times:

from 8:30am

Start Times:

9:00 - 10:00 am (note this is earlier than usual)

Courses Close:

2:30pm

Planner:

John Slater

Other Notes:

Update Saturday 19th

The controls are out and the event is definitely on!
We've had a surprising amount of snow on the tops these last two days and conditions are very slow underfoot so all the courses will be shortened accordingly.
Also please come equipped for proper winter conditions.

Arrive as early as you can so that you have plenty of time to complete your course before the strict 14:30 closing time.
It is the same map for everyone so if you wish to drop to a shorter course that is absolutely fine just let us know when you register.
Given the road conditions this morning it is possible we won't be able to get the Tea van up there so we may be confined to providing cake but no hot drinks.

There are a small number of maps (10) still available for EOD these will be available tomorrow.
See you tomorrow
John Slater
