Well done to all the WCOC members who ran at the JK last weekend. Great results individually: Niamh (1st W18E), Al (1st M18E), Dan (2nd M18E), Ben G (2nd M18L), Daisy (2nd W12), and Helen (3rd W40); and in the relays Joe S / Joe H / Charlie (1st M48) and Niamh / Issy / Lily (3rd W48)!

WCOC 1-2 at BNC 2018

Well done to the select group of WCOC members who travelled to South Wales for this year's British Night Championships. Congratulations to Caitlin Irving (1st W16), Carys Thomas (2nd W16), Joe Hudd (2nd M16), Sue Skinner (1st W50), and Niamh Hunter (1st W20 - running up an age group).

Nicky Nook

Congratulations to the WCOC members who represented the club at the Northern Night Champs hosted by SROC at "Nicky Nook" this weekend. Notable results included: Sue Skinner (1st W50), Jess Breeze (2nd W16), Carys Thomas (3rd W16), Ange Jackson (1st W40), Ben Breeze (3rd M18), Mike Harrison (1st M45), Steve Breeze (2nd M45) and Martin Skinner (1st M50). Coaching is on offer for everyone this Sunday - 10:00 to 11:00 at Setmurthy (nr Cockermouth) immediately followed by the event. The NWOA are re-launching their Colour Badge Scheme, which recognises the progression of orienteers through colour coded events from WHITE to LIGHT GREEN. This is a scheme of awarding Colour Badges at Orienteering Events for newcomers of all ages. To qualify for your Colour Badge you must achieve colour standard in the same colour course at three different events.
Saturday 16th December Junior Christmas "Coaching"  1030-1230 - Whinlatter, based at the NEW yurt which is below the Visitor Centre on the bend between the main and overflow car parks. A fun two hours of orienteering activities and a presentation of awards.  The theme for this year is Mr Men and Little Misses.  Please feel free to make up your own character. However, please do NOT come as Mr/Miss Orienteering, Mr/Miss Christmas or Little Miss Bossy. Details for Colour Standard Award presentations are attached here

Congratulations to all the WCOC juniors who made the trip to BSOC this year at the Forest of Dean. Four schools were represented; Newton Rigg, QEGS, Keswick and Cockermouth (who won the "Large Secondary School" Trophy for the 3rd year running). Well done to the following juniors; Year 7- Emily 2nd, Year 8- Issy S 2nd, Emma 18th, Wilf 4th, Year 9 - Clare 8th, Herbie 2nd, Olly 8th. Year 10 - Caitlin 1st, Carys 3rd, Joe H 3rd, Joe S 6th, Jonty 12th,Henry 14th. Year 11- Rosie 1st, Lily 3rd, Izzy 7th, David 17th. Year 12 - Niamh 1st, Louis 2nd. Year 13 - Al 1st, Zac 2nd, Dan 3rd, and Joe G 11th. Many thanks to all the adults who support WCOC juniors throughout the year, and in particular the teachers (and Roger) who gave up their entire weekend to give them the opportunity to take part in this event.
